Adrenal Fatigue is a collection of symptoms that can occur when stress becomes chronic. Being constantly “stressed out” causes the adrenal glands to keep pumping out the hormone cortisol which leads to too-high cortisol levels for too long. It is important to reduce stress in order to prevent further health problems.

If you’re experiencing the following symptoms (and your physician has ruled out other possible medical causes), it’s possible that you have a hormonal imbalance with your adrenal glands.

  • Insomnia

Trouble falling asleep or waking up in the middle of the night with difficulty falling back to sleep.

  • Anxiety

Anxiety is a leading contributor to hormonal imbalance, including adrenal problems and thyroid issues. Having anxiety isn’t all in your head and not something that can be controlled at will.

  • Weight Gain

The hormones of metabolism are affected by adrenal stress and can lead to weight gain that seems difficult to lose.

  • Food Cravings

Cravings for salty foods and craving sugar in the afternoon

  • Exhaustion

Feeling like you’re run down all the time with no energy (even after drinking coffee or popping caffeine pills)

The good news is that with the right diet (along with proper timing of meals), appropriate supplementation, and stress management techniques, hormonal balance can be restored and you can be the healthiest version of you.
