What does 2017 hold in store for you? Do you have goals and desires that have been simmering under the surface for awhile? Will this be THE year that you lose weight? Get healthier? Get in shape? Run a marathon?
Are you making New Year's resolutions?
Are you telling yourself things like: "THIS is the year I'm going to eat better and get fit."
Making resolutions when a new year begins may seem to be motivating, but the trouble is that many people abandon those resolutions as soon as a slip-up or setback happens. The fact of the matter is that slip-ups and setbacks ALWAYS happen. Perfection with diet and fitness (or anything) is not possible.
Instead of making resolutions, shift your mindset to a positive attitude which will set the tone for a year that will be AMAZING with the understanding that the victories you achieve in the year ahead will happen along with many ups and downs.
You WILL stray from your healthy eating intentions. You WILL splurge on foods or drinks that you crave on a stressful day or when you are out at a social gathering....or just because. You WILL come home after a late business meeting, and break open a bottle of wine or have a shot of vodka. You WILL indulge on high calorie meals when travelling. None of that matters. What matters most is what you decide to do once they happen. How do you handle those setbacks? You can use them as excuses to permanently fall off the wagon until 2018, or you can jump right back in the game.
No matter what, your year will be amazing as long as you decide that it will be. We believe the things we tell ourselves and the things we tell ourselves become our reality.
Decide now that 2017 will be amazing because you are going to give up on giving up!
